Conan Exiles (PC) Game Review | The Friday Geek

If you are a fan of fictional characters and sanbox type of game, then this might be the one you are looking for. Conan Exiles is developed and published by Funcom, an indie company that also make games not just for PC, but for Consoles as well. They are best known for making Massively Multiplayer Online or MMO. Some of the games they have made are Secret World Legends, Age of Conan Uncharted, Anarchy Online, The Park, just to name a few. Conan Exiles was in its early access stage last January 31 and just last May 6, it finally bids farewell to being an early access game. It was fully released on May 8 with a full retail price alongside with it.

Conan Exiles is set on lands of Conan the Barbarian, yes, the fictional character, and it’s an open-world  survival game where you will experience crafting weapons, hunt animals (or I say mystic creatures) for food and for your wardrobe as well, build your own fortresses and wage war against other players even while they are sitting in their cozy bonfire set up. Like any other open-world game, Conan Exiles thrives on a vast amount of floor area for players to explore, loot and slay monsters and even other players. Players will get a chance to customize their character to get their targeted unique appearance in the game. Since Conan Exiles is a vast open-world game, ultimate patience and understanding of the the mechanics one must possess. Simply one cannot walk in a dessert without holding an axe. Loot your way up and craft the best weapon you can get in order to survive the harsh terrain the Exiled Lands.

The game is fun to play with friends and discovery locations such as vistas, camps, dungeons, caves and teachers and other interactable NPCs, fast travel obelisks, recipes, emotes, world bosses and chests, etc. But Conan Exiles thrives for players who are seeking for a competitive yet fun game for being an open-world type of gameplay. Should you wish to relax a little bit, solo mode or compete against AI enemies are also available to choose from.

But before entering the world of Conan the Barbarian, Funcom has made its list of compatible hardware for you to enjoy the game. Check it out below and see if your PC has what it takes to run the game:

  • Processor: Intel Core i3 3.0 GHz or AMD equivalent
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 (2GB) or AMD equivalent
  • DirectX: Version 11

Recommended if you want to run the game on Ultra

  • OS: Windows 7 64 bit/Windows 8 64 bit/Windows 10 64 bit

  • Memory: 8 GB RAM

  • DirectX: Version 11

If you have the patience and keen understanding of a game as vast as Conan Exiles, you might enjoy this game. But for players who only seeks casual fun and free from any hassle of crafting, looting, grinding while slaying other players along the way, stay away from this. While Conan Exiles seems to be fun for the first few hours, it tends to be repetitive in the end. Also, there are some nudities and if you are sensitive when religion is involve, this game might offend you in its little kind way. TL:DR, the game starts slow and requires a lot of time effort. Crafting is very essential in Conan Exiles for players to survive and succeed. While exploring the land might also take much of your time as there are various places to explore. The game is highly recommended to play using mouse and keyboard (PC gamer rejoice!). It’s easier to access and navigate map, manage your inventory especially if you are fond in crafting weapons. As of this time, there’s no news yet on when the console version of Conan Exiles will get a keyboard and mouse support.
